Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek – Annapurna Sunrise Trekking

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, also known as the Annapurna Sunrise Trek or Annapurna Panorama Trek, is one of Nepal's most popular short and rewarding Himalayan treks. Located in the beautiful Annapurna region, this relatively easy to moderate trek takes you through lush rhododendron forests, peaceful mountain villages, terraced farmlands and traditional settlements while offering spectacular views of some of Nepal's most famous Himalayan peaks.

The highlight of the Poon Hill Trek is undoubtedly the breathtaking sunrise from Poon Hill (3,210 m / 10,531 ft). Early in the morning, you will hike to the viewpoint and watch the first rays of sunlight illuminate the magnificent Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The panoramic scenery includes Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, Gangapurna, Manaslu and numerous other snow-capped peaks.

Poon Hill is often considered a photographer's paradise, and the combination of dramatic Himalayan landscapes, changing mountain colors and peaceful surroundings makes sunrise here a truly memorable experience. The viewpoint provides an exceptional opportunity to appreciate the grandeur of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges without undertaking a long or highly demanding high-altitude expedition.

Beyond the mountain scenery, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking experience is also a wonderful cultural journey. The trail passes through beautiful villages inhabited mainly by Gurung and Magar communities, where you can experience traditional Himalayan hospitality, local lifestyles and centuries-old cultural traditions. The villages of Ghorepani and Ghandruk are particularly well known for their distinctive architecture, welcoming communities and beautiful mountain surroundings.

Along the trail, you will walk through colorful rhododendron forests, especially beautiful during the spring blooming season, as well as terraced hillsides, rice and agricultural fields, waterfalls and peaceful mountain landscapes. The changing scenery makes every day of the trek enjoyable, while the relatively lower elevations make Poon Hill an excellent choice for travelers looking for a shorter Himalayan adventure.

Whether you are a first-time trekker, a photographer, a nature lover, or simply looking for a memorable introduction to the Himalayas, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek offers an ideal combination of spectacular mountain views, Himalayan culture, nature and adventure in a relatively short trekking experience.
